Underground Staff Spirit Week wrapped up with a fan favorite—Decade Day! From groovy throwbacks to neon nostalgia, our staff showed up like they were ready to time-travel right into the weekend.
Ms. Davidson’s 5th graders dug into opinion writing today, sharpening their ability to take a clear stance and back it up with solid evidence from the text. Students practiced answering prompts using supporting details, quotes, and examples—proving that strong writing isn’t just about what you think, but how well you can show it. A timeless skill, well on its way to mastery!
Ms. Gilmore’s 6th graders dove into the Road to Revolution today, zeroing in on the Boston Massacre and the rising tensions that sparked it. Students explored the event like young historians—piecing together perspectives, sorting through causes, and mapping out the colonies' path toward independence.

We’ve made it to Day 4 of Underground Staff Spirit Week, and today was Hat Day! From classic caps to creations that defied gravity, our staff wore their spirit loud and proud.
In Ms. Stone’s class, students explored what it means to be a good friend—listening, helping, including others, and all the little things that make a big difference.

Day 3 of Underground Staff Spirit Week just so happens to land on the 67th day of school… so we leaned all the way into the 6–7 craze! Students caught on instantly—because of course they did.
Ms. Polverari’s class learned about Tony Sarg, the creative mind behind the Macy’s Parade balloons featured in Balloons Over Broadway. Students discovered how much engineering, science, and art go into bringing those giant characters to life—then put their own creativity to work by designing and building their own parade balloons. A hands-on tradition in the making!
A big thank you to Manuel Hernandez from MidFlorida Credit Union for visiting our school as part of the MidFlorida Gift of Reading! He read Parker’s Place by Russ Willms to our kindergarten classes and generously provided a copy of the book for every student. Our youngest readers loved the story and the special visit! 📚✨

Sphero Kickoff Classic
Today’s early-season practice competition gave our team the perfect warm-up for the robotics season. Students put their Sphero skills to the test, teamed up with peers from other schools, and got a real taste of mission excitement in a low-stakes, high-energy setting. A great start to the season—and a reminder that even in robotics, practice makes progress! 🚀🤖
Girls on the Run laced up and conquered their 5K today! Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it — those miles were powered by grit, joy, and a whole lot of girl power. 🏃♀️ A huge thank-you to coaches Ms. Clarke and Ms. Lutman for cheering, guiding, and believing in these runners every step of the way!
